Role overview
As a Demand & Resource Planning Intern you will support the Demand & Resource Planning team to build forecasting inputs, track material and manpower readiness, and help maintain dashboards and reports that ensure timely project execution and minimal revenue leakage. This internship offers hands-on exposure to project-based planning, inventory management for perishable items (plants), vendor coordination, and field resource scheduling.
Key responsibilities
1.Support sales & demand forecasting:
- Collect and consolidate inputs from sales pipeline, project schedules, and AMC/maintenance cycles.
- Build and maintain weekly and monthly forecast spreadsheets and simple rolling forecasts.
- Help analyze forecast vs actuals and highlight major variances.
2.Assist demand-to-material planning:
- Translate project schedules into basic Bill of Materials (BoM) lists for plants, planters, irrigation items, and accessories.
- Track material lead times and flag potential procurement risks.
- Support backward planning activities to align procurement with execution dates.
3.Help with inventory and vendor coordination:
- Maintain inventory records for live plants and non-perishable SKUs.
- Support vendor mapping and capacity tracking (nurseries, suppliers).
- Assist in preparing shortlists for just-in-time procurement vs inventory usage.
4.Support manpower forecasting & deployment:
- Compile project and AMC demand data to estimate crew requirements.
- Help create simple site-wise crew deployment plans and skills checklists.
- Track crew utilization and identify gaps for escalation.
5.Manage perishables & wastage tracking:
- Help document plant lifecycle and mortality events.
- Track wastage, ageing, and recommend simple controls to minimize losses.
6.Reporting, dashboards & systems:
- Maintain and update basic dashboards (Forecast vs Actual, Material Readiness, Inventory Aging) in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Support data entry and cleansing in ERP/CRM (ERPNext / Salesforce) as required.
- Work with the senior team to prepare Power BI/Zoho Analytics inputs.
7.Risk identification & communication:
- Monitor material or manpower constraints and raise early warnings.
- Draft short status notes for Sales & Operations on potential execution risks.
